AMTAB provides custom solutions with its proprietary dynamic railway scales. The unique design of the equipment allows for multiple possibilities in data collection beyond weighing a train set in motion.

Installation and commissioning is completed within three working days.

No changes are required to existing infrastructure; installation is done without traffic interruptions. Both the system and its sensors are certified for operation in all climatic conditions and fits all existing standard rails. The system has one of the best weighing accuracy for dynamic scales in the world.

HU SENSORS

  • Weigh all types of train sets in the speed range 1 – +140 km/h.
  • In addition to very high operational reliability, the system’s Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) is less than 1 hour.
  • AMTAB WIM have the market’s highest operational reliability (MTBF) of over 90,000 hours.
  • The system is delivered with an integrated wagon classification functionality.
  • Our data is easy to integrate with superior and/or parallel systems (MySQL data structure).
  • The system is very competent at wheel defect detection, additionally its deep learning neural network is constantly improving the capacity.
  • Calibration Certificate (for OIML R 106) at Research Institutes of Sweden (Notified Body approved in over 100 countries) verify that the sensors’ accuracy is better than 0.1% in the weight range of 3 – 30 metric tons per axle, in the ambient temperature range of -25°C – +40°C.

HU WEIGHING IN MOTION

Weighing in motion is our absolute top competence. This is what the system was originally developed for (30 years ago) and it has seen significant improvement over the years.

The operational need worldwide is very large and even if the customers – quite correctly – focus on its accuracy when procuring the system, it is clear that it is the system’s reliability and durability (longevity) that the customer finally appreciate.

HU WHEEL DAMAGE DETECTION

In addition to measuring all the train sets’ weight variables, AMTAB WIM also detect damaged wheels (WDD) and detect and warn against increased derailing risks.

The latter functionality is best used at speeds over 35 km/h, as several anomalies/deficiencies are detected as dynamic forces. The two main wheel defects, wheel flats and wheel out of roundness, are both detected by the system.

AMTAB’s WDD is based on artificial neural networks (- deep learning) where the system improves its detection capabilities over the system’s whole lifespan.

HU AMTAB WIM NETWORK

When AMTAB WIM is installed on several sites within the railway network, the data may easily be merged into a “Railway Logistic Centre” and be used as a Maintenance and Logistic Surveillance System.

This way of thinking is far advanced in an EU-funded railway project where AMTAB contributes with its systems.

With the right sensing system, rail operators can learn a great deal of data about the trains that roll on their tracks. AMTAB’s system for monitoring weight and wheel damage of railway cars continues to develop new functions based on sophisticated analysis of the data its sensors collect.

AMTAB’s management sat down to discussed “How can we prove the system’s durability in a convincing way?” It didn’t take long before we all agreed on that the “Iran case is the story”.

In 2008, AMTAB sold 15 systems to the Iranian Railways (IRW). They were installed throughout the country – in both very cold and very hot climate zones. Since 2008 IRW’s 15 systems have been operational, with no support incidents. Having found that the AMTAB system has met and exceeded their expectations, IRW had started to discuss increasing the number of scales in their railway network by repeat ordering from AMTAB. We expect that discussions will resume after the Iran trade embargo has been lifted.

We feel that our customer relationship with IRW is the strongest testimony for the durability of our system thus far.
